I have already posted an article about players who may be eligible for fourth option in 2021, but It was unclear whether the 2020 season, major league games were much reduced and minor league games were cancelled, counted as "full season" or not.
However, there are two interesting news posted today, one is that Erick Fedde is NOT granted fourth option, the other is that Adbert Alzolay is granted fourth option.
From these news, I understand the special rules for 2020 season as follows;- As usual, 90 days or more on the Active List (and Injured List followed to 30 or more days on the Active List) during a championship season shall constitute a “season of service.”
- Days in minors (optioned to alternate training site or not on the 40-man roster) shall NOT constitute a “season of service.”
- Days in majors are counted as "prorated" service time, rather than real service time.
- Prolated service time is calculated by the following formula:
- More than 32 days (prorated 89 days) constitute a “season of service.”
So, I concluded that the complete list of players eligible for fourth option in 2021 is below:
Albert Abreu
Micker Adolfo
Adbert Alzolay
Sandy Baez
Jaime Barria
Luis Alexander Basabe
